Point-Save Options

Global point-saving settings for the Least Squares Network Adjustment option are made in the Definitions menu Preferences option:

The initial settings accessed here are applied as defaults to all jobs in the Least Squares Network Adjustment option. Further modification to these default settings to suit the individual data sets being processed, may be made by clicking the button.

Both the global settings and the local option settings for least squares adjustments are made within the Least-Squares Adjustment Save Options dialog window:

When observation data is imported into the Least Squares Network Adjustment option, the required points are automatically loaded from the imported data file or from the job database, and are entered into the Network Points tab. If additional observation data is entered manually, the required points may also be manually selected from the job database or created new. Once all of these points have been loaded into and defined on the Network Points tab, they become local to the form only. Any changes made to these points are NOT saved back to the main database - this means that provisional or control point coordinate values may be changed to suit the needs of the adjustment without affecting the originally defined coordinates in the main database.

At the conclusion of a successful adjustment and in order to maintain consistency between different options and components of Geoida, the adjusted points and optionally the control points may be saved back to the database and/or the Point Entry tables to update existing points. The Least-Squares Adjustment Save Options dialog defines where the points are to be saved (job database and/or Point Entry tables) and whether or not already-fixed control points are to be updated with those used for the adjustment.

The settings defined will be displayed for comfirmation at the Accept results of adjustment and update points as defined? prompt at the conclusion of an adjustment. All database and/or Point Entry points used in the adjustment will thus be made consistent throughout the current job. Note however that the provisional point values defined in the Network Points tab are NOT updated by this process but remain at their original values.

For more information refer also to the Processing section in the Least Squares Network Adjustment option, and to the heading Accepting or rejecting results of adjustment in the Network Adjustment - Least Squares topic.
